Traveling to Navarino Island is an adventure in itself. Many people wonder where the southernmost city in the world is located and how to get there. Well, here we are to tell you all about the three ways to get to Puerto Williams, including schedules, approximate fares, and links where to book your tickets.
1. FLIGHTS FROM PUNTA ARENAS
Regular flights operate from Punta Arenas to Puerto Williams on a weekly basis from Monday to Saturday. These flights usually depart in the mornings, and it takes about one and a half hours for the Twin Otter aircraft and 45 minutes for the BAE plane to travel the distance between the two cities.
Airfares between Punta Arenas and Puerto Williams cost approximately 80,000 Chilean pesos / 100 US dollars one-way. The airfares at DAP Airline are fixed, the price does not change regardless of the date you choose to travel to Navarino Island or how far in advance you purchase the plane tickets.
During this flight, weather permitting, you will be able to make out the Strait of Magellan, the mountains and glaciers of Tierra del Fuego's main island, the Darwin mountain range with the Alberto de Agostini National Park, the city of Ushuaia, and finally you will fly over the Beagle Channel. The Guardia Marina Zañartu aerodrome welcomes you with stunning views of the city.
The airline that operates between Puerto Williams and Punta Arenas is Aerovías DAP, and you can check the flight status, ticket availability, and make reservations on their website DAPAIRLINE.COM..
NOTE: We recommend making a reservation with ‘Transfer Puerto Williams’ before your flight from Punta Arenas, so they can arrange transportation from the airport to the city for you. You can contact Mr. Eduardo Cid at +56 9 4267 5015.
2. TRAVEL BY FERRY TO PUERTO WILLIAMS
You can also travel between Punta Arenas and Puerto Williams onboard the Yaghan ferry. This is a 30-hour navegation that connects both cities, departing from Punta Arenas on Thursdays in the afternoon and arriving in the southernmost city in the world past midnight during the night of Fridays to Saturdays. In the opposite direction (Puerto Williams – Punta Arenas), the ferry usually departs on Saturdays in the afternoon, reaching the capital of the Magallanes region during the night of Sundays to Mondays.
How much does the ferry from Punta Arenas to Puerto Williams cost?
The ferry tickets cost approximately 150,000 Chilean pesos / 200 US dollars per one-way trip. The costs are fixed and do not change regardless of the date or how far in advance you purchase the tickets.
The journey begins by crossing the channels and Patagonian fjords that are part of the Alberto de Agostini National Park, which belongs to the Route of Parks of Patagonia. You will be able to see some glaciers during the months with more daylight hours, specifically in the direction Punta Arenas – Puerto Williams. The company that operates the Yaghan Ferry on this route is Austral Broom, and you can check ticket availability, find schedules, and make reservations on their website TABSA.CL..
3. CROSS THE BEAGLE CHANNEL FROM USHUAIA TO PUERTO WILLIAMS
During the summer months (December to March), crossings from Ushuaia to Puerto Williams operate regularly from Monday to Saturday in the mornings.
Although the distance between Ushuaia and Puerto Williams is short, this international crossing takes approximately 3 hours and will look like this: The trip begins on a speedboat, departing from the city of Ushuaia (Argentina) to Puerto Navarino (Navarino Island, Chile), crossing the Beagle Channel, which takes about 30 minutes. Once in Puerto Navarino, the journey continues by bus, driving along the scenic coastal route for 55 kilometers to finally arrive in Puerto Williams.
The ticket for crossing from Ushuaia to Puerto Williams costs approximately 95,000 Chilean pesos or 120 US dollars per one-way trip. If you choose to book a round-trip ticket, a small discount applies, resulting in a total of 180,000 Chilean pesos or 220 US dollars.
NOTE: There are websites and other platforms that talk about ferryboats; however, this information is incorrect. The crossing is made on a small boat with a capacity of 12 people, and it is not possible to transport vehicles.
The costs of the crossings are fixed and do not change regardless of the date or how far in advance you purchase tickets.

Important note!: Given the unpredictable weather conditions, there might be delays in boat or flight departures. Therefore, if you plan to connect your departure from the island with another trip, we recommend allowing ample time to avoid any inconvenience.
Another important point!: Please be aware that each of the three means of transportation to the island has limited passenger capacity. We recommend planning your trip well in advance (ideally, securing your tickets at least two months ahead), especially if you are traveling during the months of December, January, and February.
Equally important!: Should you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at [email protected]. And remember, we are more than happy to help you plan your trip.
A small favor: : We wrote this post with great care to enhance your experience on the island. If you found it helpful, we would be immensely grateful for any support you can offer in return (subscribe to our newsletter, give it a like, leave a comment, share it, etc.).
It does not require much effort and means the world to us.

Hola, que es mejor, llegar por tierra a Uhsuaia y cruzar a Pto. Williams o llegar en transbordador desde Pta. Arenas y
cruzar a Uhsuaia.
Saludos y bienvenido!
